Figurine - Half-doll pincushion and small porcelain child...

air Antique c.1920s Porcelain Dolls – German Full-Figure Accordion Player & Half Doll Pincushion Full auction description A charming pair of antique miniature porcelain dolls, dating approximately to the 1920s–1930s, comprising an unusual German full-figure accordion player together with a small porcelain half-doll retaining its period pincushion. Although different in form, the two pieces display beautifully together and represent two interesting styles of early 20th-century miniature porcelain decorative and sewing-related collectibles. 1. German Full-Body Porcelain Accordion Player A particularly appealing full-figure porcelain doll, depicting a seated young boy or child playing an accordion. The figure wears a traditional-style white costume decorated with delicate blue and red hand-painted details, a tall white cap, and striking bright red shoes. He holds a beautifully modelled accordion across his body, decorated with alternating fine red and blue stripes. Unlike a conventional half doll, this is a complete three-dimensional porcelain figure, with the entire body, crossed legs, shoes and musical instrument represented. The underside is clearly marked “Germany” in the porcelain, confirming German manufacture. The figure is in excellent antique condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs noted. The colours remain particularly fresh and vibrant. Measurements approximately: * Height: 6.5 cm * Width: 4 cm * Depth: 4 cm 2. Miniature Porcelain Half-Doll Pincushion A delightful small antique porcelain half doll mounted on a complete pincushion, also dating approximately to the early 20th century. The young lady has a fashionable short bobbed hairstyle, delicately painted facial features and blue drop earrings. She wears a pale yellow bodice and is posed elegantly with her arms crossed in front of her. The porcelain figure remains attached to its small rounded pincushion, which is completely covered in elaborate champagne/gold ribbonwork, creating a wonderfully textured skirt. The porcelain half doll is in very good antique condition with no chips noted. The textile pincushion shows the natural ageing and wear expected from an approximately century-old piece but remains remarkably decorative and complete. Measurements approximately: * Porcelain half doll: 4 cm high * Overall height including pincushion: 8 cm * Width: 5 cm * Depth: 5 cm Condition Both porcelain figures present extremely well. The German accordion player is in excellent condition, with no chips or obvious damage noted and strong surviving painted decoration. The half doll is also free from chips, while its period textile pincushion shows expected age-related wear, fading and minor deterioration consistent with its age. The textile has been left untouched rather than restored. A very attractive pair of miniature antique porcelain figures, combining a less commonly encountered German full-body musical figure with a complete miniature half-doll pincushion. Particularly suitable for collectors of German porcelain, antique half dolls, pincushion dolls, miniature figures and early sewing accessories. Date: Circa 1920s–1930s Origin: Accordion player marked Germany; half-doll origin unconfirmed Materials: Glazed porcelain; textile/ribbon pincushion Quantity: 2 pieces Condition: Very good to excellent antique condition as described. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
