Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs Fine Antique Kum Kapi silk & Metallic Thread Rug with Seljuk-Inspired Design, Istanbul Size: 6 ft x 4 ft 2 in (1.83 m x 1.27 m) Provenance: From a collection of an Istanbul collector A fine Kum Kapi silk rug inspired by the powerful geometric vocabulary of medieval Seljuk carpets. Woven in Istanbul, Kum Kapi rugs represent one of the most technically ambitious traditions of late-Ottoman and early-Turkish workshop production. The design revisits the bold medallions, angular ornament, and strongly defined borders associated with early Anatolian carpets, translating them through a more refined workshop technique.
