Fine Crossover Ring with Ruby, Sapphire, and Diamonds in Gold, c. 1990

The cabochon cut captivates with its softly rounded surface, free of edges and corners. This cut is often chosen for colored gemstones that are not entirely transparent, as it brings out the gemstones’ colour particularly well. With their high-gloss polished surface, the stones resemble tempting candies. In this ring, two cabochon-cut colored gemstones have been combined. A sapphire and a ruby face each other, lending the piece of jewellery a special allure through their contrasting colors. The split yellow gold ring band widens toward the ends and is accented at each end by a triangular arrangement of brilliant-cut diamonds. The diamonds effectively widen the ring band and elegantly draw the eye to the two colored gemstones, which form the design highlight of the ring. This curved ring was likely crafted in Germany around 1990. We discovered it here in Berlin.
