Made by Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co. Ltd in London in 1935. Oval well. Shoulder has engraved diaper in curvilinear frames and leafing scrollwork. Rim reeded with scallop shells and flowerheads with applied scallop shells on sides and heads at ends. Four leaf-capped volute-scroll supports. Based on the work of the great Huguenot silversmith. On underside engraved “H.M.S. Ariadne / Launched 16th February 1943 / Linthouse”. HMS Ariadne was a Royal Navy minelayer that worked off the coast of Norway before being transferred to the Pacific theater. Fully marked including George V silver jubilee stamp. Very good condition. Dimensions: H 2 x L 14 1/2 x W 10 1/4 in. Heavy weight: 39 troy ounces. #CD333
