un volume in 8 relié en demi-chagrin vert, dos orné de fers dorés (reliure de l'époque), 7pp., 556pp. ---- "GRIESINGER (1817/1868), a pupil of Schönlein, a clinical assistant of Wunderlich and ultimately Romberg's successor at Berlin, who apart his work in psychiatry, distinguished himself to his early description of hookworm infection as "tropical chlorosis" and did much, in germany, at least, to clear up the status of typhus, typhoid, relapsing and malarial fevers in his important text on infectious diseases". (Garrison pp. 647 & Heirs of Hippocrates N° 1838). Universellement connu pour son oeuvre novatrice psychiatrique, il a également marqué l'histoire de l'épidémiologie par son traité paru à Erlangen en 1857, réédité en 1864. Le traducteur souligne l'importance de ses apports, notamment sur l'étiologie, première des maladies infectieuses, en particulier la fièvre typhoïde et le choléra.
