FOR TWO TO READ TOGETHER. — The Full-Nude Magazine. No. 47. Paris, [circa 1935–1940]. In-4, stapled, color photographic cover. Issue No. 47 of this French magazine devoted to naturism and nude photography, lavishly illustrated with black-and-white photographs, some of which are full-page. The publication features a mix of nude photographs, outdoor scenes, and staged compositions, accompanied by texts and captions, some of which are bilingual (French-English). It serves as a characteristic example of the prevalence of nude photography in the French popular press during the interwar period. Color cover bearing the inscription “To read together—The magazine of full nudity,” with a photograph by Star Presse. Numerous credited photographs, notably by Rapho, Astra, and Alexandra. period advertisements, including a large ad on the back cover for Williams Tailor, 4 rue du Ponceau in Paris, offering custom-made suits starting at 395 francs. Heavily worn copy: cover is severely creased and marked, with numerous tears and breaks, small marginal losses, a weakened spine, and dog-eared and handled pages. Nevertheless, the magazine appears to retain definite documentary and iconographic value.
