Fossil > Woolly Mammoth "Mammuthus Primigenius" A...

A beautiful fossil femur of the Woolly Mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius), discovered in Siberia following the thawing of permafrost. This extraordinary specimen has been expertly mounted on a solid wood base with a brass support, which enhances its grandeur and allows for display in museum settings, private collections, or cabinets of curiosities. The surface of the fossil, with its natural patina and earthy tones, preserves intact the marks of time and fossilization. Each morphological detail tells the story of a prehistoric giant who roamed the icy steppes of Eurasia during the Pleistocene. The Woolly Mammoth was adapted to harsh climates thanks to its thick coat, fat glands, and long curved tusks. It went extinct about 4,000 years ago, probably due to a combination of climatic changes, habitat loss, and pressures from prehistoric humans. The best-preserved remains come precisely from the Arctic regions of Siberia, where the ice has guaranteed extraordinary preservation. Features: Species: Mammuthus primigenius Period: Late Pleistocene (roughly 30,000 – 10,000 years ago) Origin: Siberia Mounting: Wooden base, brass support Style: Wunderkammer, naturalia, decorative paleontology Category: Original collection specimen An imposing piece and aesthetically fantastic, which merges scientific value, visual strength, and museum charm. Ideal for natural history galleries or collections dedicated to Quaternary megafauna.
