Antique French firefighter helmet (Casque de Sapeur-Pompier) made of metal, typical of the early 20th century (probably model from 1933). --- Features of the helmet: • Bell: Made of chrome-plated or silver-colored steel. • Front emblem: Brass badge with a crown, oak and laurel leaves, and a flaming grenade at the center of the city coat of arms. • Inscription: The ribbon above the emblem bears the words “Sapeurs-Pompiers” as well as the respective town name (Pau - Southwest France). The interior of the helmet is in excellent and complete original condition, which noticeably enhances its appeal to collectors. Details of the interior: Leather lining (Coiffe): The brown leather inner part is completely intact, not brittle, and shows little wear. The tongue sections of the lining are still held together in the middle by the original cord. Size stamp: On one of the leather tongues the size 55 is clearly stamped, corresponding to the head circumference. Directly below is the manufacturer’s stamp (partly legible as “M...”), which is a clear sign of an unchanged original part. Chin strap (Jugulaire): The dark brown leather strap with the metal buckle for length adjustment is also fully intact and functional.
