Georges Gentils (XXe) - Nu feminin de dos

Georges GENTILS (20th century) - Nude female back view with colored drapery - Oil on paper Description: Powerful and vibrant oil painting on paper by French painter Georges Gentils (20th century), characteristic of the modern and expressionist movement of the 20th century. The composition focuses on a sculptural nude female, represented from behind in the foreground. The anatomical treatment is bold, the artist skillfully using purples, violets and orangish highlights to sculpt the volumes under a grazing light. The model sits in an intimate and theatrical interior setting, structured by ochre-patterned upholstery and draperies with saturated greens, yellows and midnight blues. A chair with a dark backrest and shimmering cushions complete this hushed mise-en-scène. The work is distinguished by the strength of its graphic lines, the use of broad dark outlines that define the forms, and a generous application of pure color, creating an atmosphere that is both sensual and mysterious. About the artist: Georges GENTILS is a French painter active in the 20th century. His artistic universe navigates between stylized figuration and expressionism. Preferring strong light contrasts and pronounced contours, he creates intimate works (nudes, landscapes, seascapes) imbued with a refined modern sensibility. • Artist: Georges GENTILS (signed bottom right) • Era: 20th century • Technique: Oil • Support: Paper • Dimensions: 45 x 28 cm • Condition: Generally good conservation state.
