German Portrait of Marie Therese of Austria 18th century

Descriptio Oil on canvas, portrait of an 18th-century German lady. Dimensions: 69 cm x 63 cm and 92 cm x 74 cm. This bust portrait of a woman is set within an oval format, with a dark, neutral background that enhances the luminosity of her face and the delicacy of her complexion. The figure is slightly turned, with a serene and direct gaze, rosy cheeks, and powdered hair adorned with pearls and delicate ornaments. She wears elegant reddish-toned clothing with ample satin folds, complemented by a blue-green cloak that provides chromatic contrast. The brushwork is soft and precise, with particular attention to the treatment of lace, jewels, and textile textures, underscoring the refinement characteristic of 18th-century German court portraits. The composition conveys distinction and balance, highlighting the sobriety of the background against the prominence of the figure. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
