German School (XX), signed "M. Meess" - Landscape, Garmisch

An original winter landscape painting by the German artist Maria Meess, signed and dated "M. Meess. Garmisch 1944" in the lower right corner. The oil on canvas artwork depicts a snowy Alpine mountain scenery, featuring two prominent snow-covered fir trees in the foreground casting long shadows across the snow, with the mountain peaks rising in the background. The style is characteristic of mid-20th-century German Alpine landscape art, focusing on light and shadow effects on winter terrain. The painting is mounted on its original wooden stretcher frame and housed in a vintage, light-colored wooden frame. The overall condition corresponds to its age, showing typical signs of aging on both the canvas and the frame, as visible in the provided photographs.
