Giant Natica Fossil - Fossilised shell - Natica sp - 13.5...

Large Natica Fossil Gastropod – Massive Spiral Shell with Natural Matrix – Old Collection An impressive fossil gastropod attributed to the genus Natica, distinguished by its substantial proportions, beautifully developed spiral structure, and remarkable natural preservation. The specimen displays a broad, rounded body whorl surrounding a prominent, elevated spire. The successive whorls are clearly defined, creating an elegant spiral composition that emphasizes the characteristic globose morphology of these ancient marine gastropods. Its surface features a delicate combination of sandy beige, pale grey, creamy ivory, and warm earthy tones, with subtle mineral variations and natural sedimentary textures. Fine growth lines and weathered areas remain visible, highlighting the fossil's geological history. Particularly interesting is the preservation of the shell in a largely unpolished condition, retaining its authentic fossilized appearance. The aperture region remains partly enclosed within the original sedimentary material, while the exposed spiral reveals the impressive volume and three-dimensional structure of the specimen. The substantial final whorl gives the fossil a powerful sculptural presence, while its rounded contours and naturally textured surface make it attractive from different viewing angles. Originating from an old collection, this large gastropod fossil represents a fascinating example of prehistoric marine life, combining distinctive shell morphology with the authentic character of a naturally preserved specimen. An impressive and highly decorative fossil, particularly suitable for collectors of marine gastropods, natural history enthusiasts, or a refined cabinet of curiosities.
