Very decorative torso / mannequin. You could also call it a dress form or a display mannequin. The torso is 79 cm tall, 42 cm wide, 28.5 cm deep and weighs about 3.5 kg. The torso was designed in 2001 by Sandra Villet commissioned by Gibaud (full name: Laboratoires Gibaud, based in Saint-Étienne, France), a very well-known French manufacturer of medical devices, orthopedic back- and heating belts and compression stockings. The design has a distinctly minimalist industrial design with a clean, geometric and anthropomorphic form. Gibaud did not have these busts manufactured for consumer sale, but purely as display sculptures (store fixtures) for in-store displays and on the countertops of French pharmacies and orthopedic specialty shops. Sandra Villet is a French designer and researcher who is mainly active in the field of graphic design, spatial design (scenography of exhibitions) and interior architecture. She graduated in 2001 from the École des beaux-arts de Saint-Étienne. The torso is made of black PVC and has only usual and logical signs of use, such as some burrs and scratches. It otherwise still looks excellent. The red letters 'Gibaud' lie on the torso. There are also versions where the letters are somewhat sunken into the plastic. These busts were produced in limited editions, because they were intended for retail interiors and not for the general public. This makes this torso a very desirable collector's item! The torso is very decorative and can be a charming item in a living environment. It can also be used in a bedroom or walk-in wardrobe as a dress form and/or jewelry hanger.
