The composition develops within the rigid structure of the cube grid, where colour appears to expand, shift and gather into a visual rhythm. The title, which translates as “flowering” or “blooming”, refers to the idea of emergence within a controlled geometric system. From a distance, the work reads as a unified chromatic field. Seen more closely, the individual cubes reveal the modular structure and physical construction behind the composition. Viewed from the side, the adjacent faces of the cubes extend the colour beyond the frontal composition and reveal a more fragmented chromatic structure, emphasizing the sculptural depth of the work. Giovanni Contardi (b. 1994) is an Italian artist internationally recognised for his mosaics created entirely from original Rubik’s Cubes. His installations are permanently exhibited at the Rossini National Museum in Italy and at Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel at Disneyland Paris. His work was mentioned by Ernő Rubik, inventor of the Rubik’s Cube, in his autobiographical book Cubed: The Puzzle of Us All (2020). Selected works, installations and process documentation are shared on Instagram under the name JVENB.
