A fundamental turning point in his career occurred in the 1980s with Assempaforismo. Towards the end of the 1980s, he created the IMAGES movement together with other Abruzzese artists. In 2013 he founded the Giuseppe Fortunato Foundation, dedicated to archiving and sharing his artistic legacy. Fortunato's artistic career has been marked by his exploration of deep, non-superficial emotions. He achieved early success in Italy and extended his reach to the United Kingdom and across Europe and in the USA. As a painter, sculptor, and designer, Giuseppe Fortunato's work evolved toward a surreal aesthetic, ultimately arriving at his characteristic 'Colate' style: vivid, fluid glazes applied to large flat surfaces.
