Alle Auktionen / Sonstige / Giuseppe Montalbano (1940-2013) - Ulivo

Giuseppe Montalbano (1940-2013) born in Tripoli on December 19, 1940, the youngest of 7 children. He graduated from the Istituto D’Arte in Palermo and had immediately started teaching at the one in Sciacca, together with many illustrious artists who at that time formed a professional association of notable standing (Nucci, Fisco, Navarra, Stassi, Nacci, Bruno, Fisco, Cascio). In Montalbano’s private life, a figure who would change his life burst into that period: Lia Termine, the woman who would be his muse, his strength, his drive toward a career that would see him as a protagonist, from the 1960s to the 2000s on the artistic scene with solo and group exhibitions. Montalbano’s painting is unmistakable. It embodies the soul of Sicily with the colors of the sea, sky, flowers, fruit, with the plains and hills; he favors a scenographic layout in which hedges, fences, wooden shelves, shells, spheres or half-spheres, ethereal veils of voile laid almost at random, speak of spirituality. The natural elements are an observatory of this artist on the disenchantment of the world, but also the reassuring cradle of the values of his home, his land, his culture. The work for auction is an oil on canvas, dimensions: 24 cm by 30 cm, and it depicts an olive tree; the afternoon light immerses the viewer in warm tones that break down into the different layers given by vigorous and elusive brushstrokes. The simplicity and the stylistic layout recall the landscapes and still lifes of Van Gogh. The painting is enriched by a splendid solid wood frame lacquered in the style of the 1980s. Signature present at the bottom right. In perfect condition with no damage. Careful worldwide shipping with UPS, DHL or FedEx.
