(x) Great Britain Postage Dues 1914 ½d. imperforate die proofs (2) affixed to part ledger sheet (178x50mm.) dated "26.1.141", Plate 18 with uncleared background inscribed "Original die. Duty Cut by C.G. Lewis." and Plate 23 with cleared background inscribed "Die for Leads. From Roller P.19.20.21.22.", both overprinted "cancelled" in red diagonally reading upwards. Fine and unique. Photo provenance: The personal archive of the Royal Mint Engraver, H.A. Richardson, presented to him upon retirement. Subject to 5% tax on Hammer Price in addition to 20% VAT on Buyer’s Premium.
