Today, it is highly praised by collectors for its robust build quality and muscular sound signature. Sound Performance & Features Audio enthusiasts frequently praise the V5000 for its distinct sound character, especially when compared to its Japanese contemporaries of the same era: • Powerful, Daily-Driver Audio: Reviewers note that even when running completely linear, it offers an incredibly pleasant, warm, and non-fatiguing sound that is perfect for everyday listening. • Advanced Equalization: The 4-way tone control allows for precision tuning. Grundig configured its tone steps differently than many manufacturers—offering deeper bass adjustments and higher treble peaks—making it incredibly adaptable to older or flatter speakers. • Robust Phono Stage: Unlike basic built-in stages of the era, the V5000's Phono section is exceptionally well-engineered to accommodate both Moving Magnet (MM) and Moving Coil (MC) turntables.
