Günther Uecker (1930-2025) - Signiert - Zinc cliché - 1970 – Gerahmt

Günther Uecker – Signed zinc cliché (Zinc clichés) from 1970 – Framed This rare, signed zinc cliché is an impressive original print by Günther Uecker and a significant example of his experimental printmaking within the ZERO movement. The work is signed in pencil at the bottom right and numbered at the bottom left. It is a work from the rare portfolio “Leibbeschreibung eines Nagels”, published in 1970 by Klaus Lüpke Gallery in Frankfurt am Main. A zinc cliché (Zinc cliché) is a zinc relief print (a zincography with embossing). “Leibbeschreibung eines Nagels” represents a radical experiment in which Uecker translated macro photographs of nail structures into a new visual language. He employed a special technical process: Agfacolor-Isodensiten were hand-etched onto zinc plates and subsequently printed in relief on heavy Velin paper. The result is a graphically intense, almost sculptural image composition in which materiality and impression merge into an inseparable unity. The series occupies an independent and significant position within Uecker’s graphic oeuvre. While he became famous primarily for his room-taking installations and iconic nail reliefs, this group of works impressively shows how powerful a visual presence his artistic concepts can have even in the medium of graphic printmaking. The composition was professionally framed, in a custom wooden frame with PLEXIGLAS Optical HC, which is scratch-resistant and UV-protective. Framed approx. 49 × 49 cm. Günther Uecker (1930–2024) was an influential German artist and co-founder of the ZERO movement, which in the 1950s and 1960s ushered in a radical shift in the art world. His oeuvre was characterized by the use of nails, white paint, wood, and rhythmic structures, through which he imparted a spiritual and sensuous dimension to matter. For Uecker, art was a means to make stillness, time, and inner reflection visible and experiencable. His works form a bridge between the physical and the meditative. Uecker’s works are in the collections of leading museums worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Modern in London, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. CONDITION The work is in good condition. The photographs are an integral part of the condition description. SHIPPING Security: Only insured shipping with tracking (Track & Trace).
