Gustave BRYUN - Fives-Lille - Jardinière - Grand Cache...

Exceptional and rare grand majolica cache pot in barbotine (majolica) of historicist / Art Nouveau style, produced at the end of the 19th century by the famous earthenware factory of Fives-Lille (Gustave De Bruyn manufactory). This piece with a dynamic form features a high-relief decoration of great finesse, composed of cherubs (amours) holding garlands, centered around a superb grotesque Faun mask (grotesque style / Green Man). The polychromy is typical of the finest French productions of the period, blending rich shades of oxblood, ochre yellow and celadon green, contrasting magnificently with an interior entirely enamelled in light turquoise blue. Marks and signatures under the base: Official recessed stamp: The emblematic entwined anchor with the initials DB (De Bruyn). Model number: 281 engraved in relief, corresponding to this mold in the factory catalogs of the time and Workshop mark: Handwritten painted letter by the painter-enameller. Note a chip on one of the faces. As with all my items put up for auction on this site, this marvel has undergone no cleaning (only dusting), nor modification since purchase. Happy bidding to all Any damage not mentioned in the text, but visible in the photos is considered as described. No shipment outside the EU; if you are outside the European Union you can bid on one of my lots, however no claim will be possible in case of problems during transport. Given the new import/export regulations to the USA there will be no shipment to that country anymore. Careful professional shipment, signed-for with insurance. #madeinfrance
