Alle Auktionen / Etnografica / Hand-carved Brazilian sodalite owl sculpture
Unique Ornithological Sculpture with Amber Eyes — This sculpture portrays a masterfully carved owl, made from Brazilian sodalite. The mineral presents a splendid mix of deep blue tones, harmoniously blending with white and grayish hues, creating a natural marbled effect that enhances the texture of the feathers. The artist has skillfully used the color variations of sodalite to give depth and realism to the plumage, particularly on the wings and tail. The carving is executed with great attention to detail, capturing the essence and grace of this nocturnal raptor. Each feather is delineated with precision, giving the work a notable sense of movement and liveliness. The owl’s eyes are made from a brilliant amber-colored material, creating an attractive contrast with the cool tones of sodalite, lending the animal a piercing and realistic gaze. Sodalite is a tectosilicate mineral known for its deep blue color, often veined with white or gray due to calcite impurities. Its beauty and relative softness make it a favored material for artistic carving. Exemplars of this quality, with such chromatic richness and such refined sculptural execution, are highly appreciated by collectors. This piece is not only a mineral specimen of considerable value but also a work of art that unites nature’s intrinsic beauty with artisanal craftsmanship. Its visual presence makes it an ideal object to enrich a mineral collection, a home environment, or an office, adding a touch of elegance and natural charm. An extraordinary addition for any mineral art or zoological sculpture enthusiast. Any slight irregularities or color variations should be regarded as natural characteristics of the mineral and the artisanal carving process, which confer uniqueness to each piece. The object is presented in generally good condition, as evidenced by the photographs.
