Harvey Guzzini – Iconic Brumbury Table Lamp – Luigi Massoni – 1969 – Space Age Design – Italy An exceptional and iconic Brumbury table lamp, designed by Luigi Massoni in 1969 for the renowned Italian lighting manufacturer Harvey Guzzini. A striking example of Italian Space Age design, combining futuristic sculptural forms, elegant materials and innovative lighting technology. Design & History Designed at the height of the Space Age movement in the late 1960s, the Brumbury lamp perfectly captures the futuristic aesthetic that defined Italian design during this period. Luigi Massoni (1930–2013) was an influential Italian architect and industrial designer, celebrated for his innovative approach to furniture and lighting. Harvey Guzzini became internationally recognised for its pioneering use of modern materials, particularly acrylic, combined with elegant and functional design. The Brumbury is among the brand's most recognisable vintage lighting designs and remains a highly desirable collector's piece. Materials & Design The lamp features a beautifully sculpted, mushroom-shaped white acrylic shade with a distinctive raised central dome, surrounded by an elegant chrome-plated metal ring. The cylindrical base combines white lacquered metal with a polished chrome-plated lower section, creating a sophisticated contrast between the glossy white surfaces and reflective metal. Its generous proportions and harmonious rounded silhouette give the lamp an almost architectural presence, making it a true statement piece. Lighting & Functionality One of the most remarkable features of the Brumbury is its ingenious dual lighting system. The lamp accommodates four E14 bulbs: Three bulbs positioned beneath the large outer shade. One bulb housed beneath the smaller central dome. The two lighting sections can be operated independently or simultaneously using the double-switch control. When illuminated, the white acrylic shade diffuses a beautifully soft, warm and atmospheric light. Perfect as a statement table lamp, decorative accent light or centerpiece in a Mid-Century Modern, Space Age or contemporary interior. Dimensions Height: approximately 45 cm Diameter: approximately 43 cm Weight: approximately 3.5 kg Condition Very good vintage condition and fully functional. The lamp has been tested and is in working order. Minor signs of age and use may be present, consistent with its vintage character. The white acrylic shade retains its beautiful glossy appearance, complemented by the chrome-plated details. Please carefully examine all photographs, as they form an integral part of the description. Shipping This exceptional vintage designer lamp will be carefully and professionally packed, with particular attention to protecting the acrylic shade and chrome elements.
