Letter written by a genealogist from COLMAR on December 13, 1749, addressed to Madame KEMPF D’ANGRETH at her Château de LUNGERSTEIN, near ROUFFACH (68), regarding a search for proof of lineage. “Madam, it seems to me that your lineage is about to become the subject of controversy; rather than putting an end to it, I have no choice but to respond to and refute the objections that are being raised. I agree that there are arguments for and against. … to allay your concerns regarding the de RUTZ family. I will begin by stating that your baptismal record, which is authentic, lists your father and mother as Jean Gottfrois Florian KEMPF D’ANGRETH and Lady Marie Anne de RUTZ, Baroness of WASENBOURG… ” He disputes the 1710 family tree and asks for patience, saying, “We will resolve this matter peacefully.” 3 pages, in-4°
