Helge Emil Georg Böttcher (1907–1992) — Interior with figures Interesting oil on canvas by the Swedish painter Helge Emil Georg Böttcher (1907–1992), signed and dated in the lower right corner. The work represents a domestic interior with figures, a theme especially characteristic within the artist's output. Two characters appear seated beside a table in a room carefully described, illuminated by natural light entering through an open window toward the garden. The composition stands out for the achieved contrast between the dim interior and the brightness coming from the exterior. The artist organizes the scene through a succession of planes that lead the eye from the furniture and objects in the foreground to the central window, turned into one of the main light focal points of the composition. The different elements of the room — lamps, furniture, sideboard, curtains and everyday objects — contribute to creating an intimate, silent and contemplative atmosphere. The presence of the figures introduces a narrative dimension, while maintaining the serene character of the scene. Helge Emil Georg Böttcher was born on September 15, 1907 in Landskrona, Sweden, and died in the same city on June 4, 1992. He was a self-taught artist who completed his training through personal studies in Denmark. His artistic production focused especially on interior scenes with figures and on biblical-themed compositions, two genres very representative of his career. In this work one can precisely appreciate one of Böttcher's most characteristic subjects: the inhabited interior. The color range, dominated by dark and sober tones, is animated by the clarity coming from outside and by small chromatic accents distributed throughout the room. The painting shows a good general state of conservation for its age, with the usual signs derived from the passage of time. The photographs are an integral part of the description and allow a detailed view of its current condition. From a private collection. The work is presented framed. The frame is included solely as a courtesy and without added commercial value, and may show scuffs, small losses, restorations or imperfections typical of use and age. Its condition will not be eligible for complaint. The piece will be shipped with professional packaging, carefully protected with materials suitable for works of art, aiming for maximum safety during transport. For shipments outside the European Union, the buyer should note that any possible duties, import taxes, customs handling fees, and any other costs arising from the destination country’s regulations will be the buyer's sole responsibility. Customs procedures may also cause delays beyond the usual delivery times. An attractive 20th-century Swedish painting, particularly representative of Helge Emil Georg Böttcher's output for its interior theme, intimate character and careful treatment of light.
