Herend - István Lőrincz (1901–1985) - Statue

HEREND, "THE ALLEGORY OF AUTUMN", HAND-PAINTED PORCELAIN STATUETTE Since 1826, Herend has produced some of the world's finest porcelain. With meticulous care, every Herend figurine comes to life thanks to the skilled hands of artisans who create and paint these fascinating porcelain creations. Herend products are made of hard-purd porcelain, using a blend of kaolin, feldspar, and quartz. After cleaning, decoration, and drying, the porcelain is fired at 830 degrees Celsius. The statue depicts an 18th-century woman in a beautiful dress with a hat, who holds a bouquet of flowers in her right hand while in her left she holds a child who wants to wriggle free from the embrace. A decorative poem impressed through expert brushwork and superb color calibration as seen in the expression on the child’s face. The base bears the Herend mark impressed in uppercase letters and carries the number 5757. It is also signed with the name Lorincz on one side. Istvan Lorincz (1901-1985) worked as a sculptor for Herend porcelain from 1938. In overall excellent condition, it only lacks the thumb of the left hand, a understandable defect for an object almost a century old but not capable of diminishing the beauty of this rare and splendid piece. The dimensions are: height 25.8 cm, width 14.5 cm, and depth 14.5 cm. Careful worldwide shipping with UPS, DHL, or FedEx.
