The narrow stream, the bare trees, and the delicate reflections in the water create a calm, almost contemplative atmosphere. The tempera technique gives the work a matte, velvety surface and underlines the clear, restrained visual language that is typical of Fischer-Roloff. The painting is clearly signed on the front, bottom right, which further confirms its authenticity. On the back there is also the handwritten designation “Stream Run in Mirror Light 1949.” The work is presented in a high-quality, period-typical frame that harmonizes color and style exceptionally well with the painting. He was a co-founder of the Bund Bildender Künstler Nordwestdeutschland and devoted himself throughout his life to figurative painting. His work includes cityscapes, landscapes, figure pictures, and travel impressions, always characterized by a reduced, essential-form language. He regularly exhibited at the Kunstverein Hannover, the Kestnergesellschaft, and the Galerie Kubus and participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany, Italy, Austria, England, and Sweden.
