Thank you. Biography of Hoang Anh. Born in 1984 in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam, lives and works in Hanoi Originaire de la province de Thanh Hoa, located 150 km south of Hanoi, Hoang Anh belongs to this pivotal generation of Vietnamese artists (the “8x” generation) who combine cultural heritage and contemporary abstraction. A graduate of the Vietnam University of Fine Arts, he has established himself on Hanoi’s art scene with a bold approach to matter and color. Graduate of the Artistic Talents program (class of 13) at Thanh Hoa College of Culture and Arts Graduate of the Painting Department (class of 48) at the Vietnam University of Fine Arts Style and Artistic Approach Hoang Anh’s work is distinguished by an intense exploration of texture and movement. While he explores themes such as landscapes, nature, and the female figure, it is in abstraction that he reveals his full expressive power: • The energy of gesture: A proponent of oil and acrylic painting, he often uses the palette knife to apply color with vigorous horizontal strokes. This gesture creates a nearly musical rhythm on the canvas. • Chromatic contrasts: His work plays on the opposition between neutral backgrounds (urban grays, textured whites) and flashes of primary colors — fiery reds, solar yellows, and deep blues — that seem to burst from the surface. • Lyric abstraction: His compositions do not seek to reproduce reality but to capture its emotional essence. His canvases often evoke ephemeral phenomena: the reflection of light on water, the vibration of heat, or the bustle of a metropolis in flux. Exhibitions and Recognition An active and recognized artist, Hoang Anh regularly exhibits in Hanoi’s prestigious galleries and within national artistic collectives. His works are part of numerous private collections in Vietnam and internationally, captivating with their ability to translate an Eastern sensibility into a universal, modern language. "Painting is, for me, a breath, a way to fix the invisible energy that surrounds us." — Hoang Anh
