Thank you. Biography of Hoang Anh. Born in 1984 in Thanh Hoa, Vietnam. Lives and works in Hanoi. Originating from Thanh Hoa Province, located 150 km south of Hanoi, Hoang Anh belongs to this pivotal generation of Vietnamese artists (the “8x” generation) who combine cultural heritage with contemporary abstraction. A graduate of the Vietnam Fine Arts University, he has established himself on the Hanoi art scene with a bold approach to matter and color. Graduate of the Artistic Talents program (Class 13) at the Thanh Hoa College of Culture and Arts Graduate of the Painting Department (Class 48) of the Vietnam Fine Arts University Style and Artistic Approach Hoang Anh’s work stands out for its intense exploration of texture and movement. Although he explores varied themes such as landscapes, nature, and the female figure, it is in abstraction that he reveals his full expressive power: • The energy of gesture: A practitioner of oil and acrylic painting, he frequently uses the palette knife to apply color in vigorous horizontal strokes. This gesture creates a rhythm that is almost musical on the canvas. • Chromatic contrasts: His work plays on the opposition between often neutral backgrounds (urban greys, textured whites) and bursts of primary colors — fiery reds, solar yellows, and deep blues — that seem to burst from the surface. • Lyric abstraction: His compositions do not seek to reproduce reality, but to capture its emotional essence. His paintings often evoke ephemeral phenomena: the glint of light on water, the vibration of heat, or the bustle of a metropolis in rapid change. Exhibitions and Recognition An active and recognized artist, Hoang Anh regularly exhibits in prestigious galleries in Hanoi and within national art collectives. His works are part of numerous private collections, both in Vietnam and internationally, appealing for their ability to translate a sensibility rooted in the East into a universal and modern language. "Painting is, for me, a breath, a way to fix the invisible energy that surrounds us." — Hoang Anh
