Overall, the National Bank Note Census records approximately 965 non-institutional notes on this Honolulu-based bank under three different titles used between 1900 and 1935. Yet that figure obscures the relative rarity of this Series of 1882 $5 Brown Back issued by this institution under its first title during the early 1900s. In all, the National Bank Note Census records 36 pieces for this popular type discontinued in 1908 while three additional pieces are recorded on the remainder of the Hawaiian archipelago thanks to the First National Bank of Wailuku (Charter# 5994) which organized in 1901. Signatures attributable to Cashier Levi T. Peck and President Cecil "Kikila" Brown are noticed and retained, effectively lending this note another proverbial laurel that's sure to outshine the noted comments and carry this note into the hands of an appreciative collector who has long sought a Territorial Brown Back.
