Huxley (Aldous), Brave New World, ?pre-release copy, first edition, London: Chatto & Windus, 1932, half-title, original publisher's blue cloth only, 8vo; idem, The Devils of Loudun, first edition, Chatto & Windus, 1952, half-tite, original pictorial dustjacket designed by Bálint Sándor 'Val' Biro, some wear, over red cloth, 8vo; idem, Music at Night, & Other Essays, first edition, Chatto & Windus, 1931, half-title, original cloth, 8vo; idem, Beyond the Mexique Bay, first edition, Chatto & Windus, 1934, original publisher's cloth only, 8vo; earlier first editions; etc., (20) Provenance: Bruce Marshall (1899-1987), Scottish author and traditionalist Roman Catholic. Curiously, the ffep of Brave New World bears a presentation inscription to Marshall, dated 'Xmas 1931', pre-dating the book's official publication and release date of February 1932 by two months. Possibly indicating that this copy was one of the earliest printed post-proof and that 'Hilda & Willie', the givers, were either involved in the publication of this dystopian novel or with the publishers as a whole.
