Alle Auktionen / Nautica, Technica & Optik / ICA Künstler Reflex type 750 + Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 6,3/18 cm Analogue camera
Offered: an exceptionally beautiful and extremely rare ICA Künstler Reflex 9 × 12 cm from the pioneering era of professional photography, equipped with the famous Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 18 cm f 1 : 6.3 lens. This camera was built by the Internationale Camera Actien Gesellschaft (ICA) in Dresden and belongs to the top class of early large-format SLRs. The execution with the original relief stamp "ICA Künstler Cameras" confirms that this is the deluxe professional Künstler edition, developed at the time for portrait, studio and art photography. The camera dates from roughly 1911–1914, a period when ICA was renowned worldwide for its high-quality professional cameras, even before the founding of Zeiss Ikon. The absolute highlight of this specimen is undoubtedly the original Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 18 cm f 1 : 6.3 lens. The Tessar has enjoyed an exceptional reputation for more than a century and is often described as one of the most influential lens designs in the history of photography. Thanks to its outstanding sharpness, fine contrast, and characteristic image rendering, this lens was the first choice of many professional photographers at the time. The camera is in visually exceptional condition for its age of over 110 years. The wooden body with original leather covering presents itself beautifully, as does the large fold-out viewing hood and the ground glass. The leather bellows look neat, and the camera makes a complete and well-preserved impression. An important plus is the built-in slit shutter. With many comparable cameras, this vulnerable mechanism has been defective or incomplete after more than a century. On this exemplar the shutter curtain moves smoothly, the various slit widths are visible, and the mechanism responds convincingly to the different settings. However, the camera has not been tested with film or glass plates and is therefore sold as a historically museum-worthy collectible object. Features • Manufacturer: ICA (Internationale Camera Actien Gesellschaft), Dresden • Model: Künstler Reflex 750 • Construction period: circa 1911–1914 • Negative format: 9 × 12 cm • Type: professional large-format single-lens reflex camera • Original wooden construction with leather covering • Built-in slit shutter • Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 18 cm f 1 : 6.3 lens • Folding hood with ground glass • Original relief stamp "ICA Künstler Cameras" This camera represents an important chapter in the history of photography and is an impressive example of the technical innovation at the beginning of the twentieth century. A particular collectible for enthusiasts of historical cameras, optics, Zeiss, or early large-format photography. Thanks to its striking appearance, this camera is also an impressive decorative object for any collection. A special aspect of this package is the original, handwritten user manual, prepared in June 1911 by the seller M.J. Rademacher from Rotterdam, the Netherlands. This historical document adds an extra dimension of authenticity and charm to the object. The photos form an integral part of the description. The camera will be carefully packaged and insured-shipped.
