Iceland 1928/1937 - Two Airmail Covers – Ísafjörður and USA

Two Icelandic airmail covers combining domestic and overseas destinations, with contrasting frankings and postal markings. Upper cover: Reykjavík to Lexington, Massachusetts, USA, 3 August 1937. Addressed to Mr Percy C. Smith and franked with two pictorial airmail stamps: 10 aurar blue and 25 aurar violet, totalling 35 aurar. Reykjavík machine cancellation dated 3.VIII.37, incorporating the distinctive Happdrætti Háskólans University Lottery slogan. This cover is mounted on a collector’s card with a French-language description. The mounting card and its description are included in the lot. Lower cover: Reykjavík to Ísafjörður, 29 August 1928. Addressed to Jón Þ. Ólafsson, with a mixed franking of six stamps, including a green landscape design, portrait definitives, a 5-aur provisional surcharge, a pair of 1-eyrir stamps and a red 10-aur aeroplane-overprinted stamp. Reykjavík circular cancellations dated 29 August 1928 and a “Par avion / Loftleiðis” label complete the front. The lot consists of two covers, including the mounting card and description accompanying the 1937 cover. I can combine the shippings strictly following the Catawiki rules.
