Important letter by the Gaon Rabbi Aharon Kotler, Rosh Yeshivas Kletsk

Rabbi Kotler writes: “…For I have not taken anything from anywhere else, except what the Rabbi of Nesvizh sent by post of his own initiative, without any request on my part. I have already sent him receipts.” He goes on to elaborate on the importance of maintaining proper accounts and dispatching receipts promptly, emphasizing the severe financial difficulties facing the institution: “The financial strain here is truly beyond all bounds, as in the most difficult times. His Honor should not delay even a moment.” At the conclusion of the letter, Rabbi Kotler discusses arrangements for scheduling a meeting of rabbis with the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski of Vilna and Rabbi of Krinik, so that Rabbi Chaim Ozer would not have to make the journey twice. Historical Note: At the time this letter was written, in 1927, Rabbi Yechezkel Abramsky was still serving as Av Beit Din of Slutsk, before his arrest by the Soviet authorities and his subsequent emigration to England. (1892-1962) one of the greatest Gedolei Yiaroel in the recent generation. From a young age was renowned as an Iluy and diligent student. In his youth, he studied Torah with the Gaon Rabbi Zalman Sender Kahana Shapiro. Rabbi Reuven Grozovsky (Chatana Dvei Nessi’ah of the Gaon Rabbi Baruch Ber Leibowitz) who knew him, urged him to study at the Knesses Yosroel Yeshiva in Slabodka. There Rabbi Aharon became close to his rabbis the Rashei Yeshivas who greatly respected him. At the age of 22 Rabbi Aharon Married the daughter of the Gaon Rabbi Isser Zalman Meltzer. Immediately after the wedding, he started teaching in his yeshiva in Slutzk and several years later, became its Rosh Yeshiva.
