Monumental Inca urpu or aryballos measuring 63 cm – late 15th–late 16th century AD A large urpu or aryballos of Inca tradition, measuring 63 cm in height. The voluminous body supports a tall neck opening towards the mouth, with two lateral handles and a small projection on the upper body. The base narrows below, while the reddish-brown surface retains tonal variations and areas of wear. The vessel is restored, with visible joins and some chips on exposed areas. Its massive volume and elongated silhouette stand out within Andean storage pottery. From the Pierre Pourrut collection. The long neck and expanded mouth rise above a rounded body that carries the lateral handles lower down its sides. This creates a pronounced contrast between the slender upper section and the broad reservoir beneath it. The small projection adds another feature to the shoulder area without disturbing the overall vertical silhouette. Restored lines cross parts of the reddish surface, while chips and worn areas interrupt the exposed edges. Its considerable height makes these structural relationships particularly apparent when the whole vessel is viewed together. Material: Terracotta Dimensions: 63 cm high Provenance: Pierre Pourrut collection.
