Alle Auktionen / Sonstige / Italian school (XIX) - Madonna Incoronata sotto il manto stellato con angeli
Ancient painting “Crowned Madonna under a star-studded mantle with angels” Popular devotional art, 19th century Glass painting, within a decorated wooden frame. Dimensions: 48 x 40 cm in a contemporary frame Painting: 39 x 31 cm Suggestive devotional depiction of the Virgin Mary crowned as Queen of Heaven, portrayed frontally bust-length within a large oval halo. The face, with delicate yet highly stylized features, has half-closed eyes and a gathered, contemplative expression; the hands crossed on the chest emphasize the prayerful character and intimate devotion. The Madonna wears a wide blue mantle speckled with golden stars, a traditional reference to the celestial dimension and Marian sovereignty. Particularly evident is the large star placed on the mantle, an element that may recall one of the ancient epithets of the Virgin, Stella Maris, guide and protector of the faithful. Above the head looms a monumental regal crown, richly adorned in gold and red tones, supported on the sides by two small winged angels in white garments. The presence of the crown clearly identifies Mary in her dimension of Regina Coeli, Queen of Heaven. The painting displays the typical characteristics of popular religious production: clear drawing, simplified anatomies, intense and contrasting colors, and a more symbolic than naturalistic rendering. This very immediacy gives the image a particular archaic charm, linked to the tradition of images intended for domestic devotion and for rural or conventual settings. Of notable interest is also the wooden frame, characterized by a dark marbleized decorative effect, gilded inner profiles, and four large circular fittings at the corners containing carved and gilded rosettes. The frame significantly contributes to the historical and devotional character of the whole. In good condition with signs of time attributable to the period / the present frame is included as a courtesy gift to the artwork Certificate of sale and legitimate provenance Insured shipping
