Splendid and rare antique chest of drawers (commode) original period Louis XVI / Transitional, dating from the late 18th to the early 19th century. An authentic piece of great charm, characterized by compact dimensions and elegant proportions, perfect for an entrance hall as well as a bedroom or a classic/modern living room. Characteristics and construction details: • Authenticity guaranteed: The interiors of the drawers show the artisanal craftsmanship of the period, with dovetail joints done entirely by hand and solid rough-sawn wooden backgrounds planed by hand (see close-up photo). • Artistic craftsmanship: The front and sides feature refined veneering with a parquetry inlay in a herringbone pattern (marquetry) and geometric inlays in precious woods (bois de rose / rosewood). • Decorative elements: Equipped with four functional drawers, enriched by splendid hanging ring handles, lock escutcheons, and front-foot bronze shoe feet with the original patina of the era. • Structure: Clean geometric lines, typical of neoclassicism, resting on elegant slightly curved feet (sabers). Condition of the item: The piece is in good overall structural condition and retains a beautiful glossy patina. Being an authentic piece with over two centuries of history, it shows normal and small signs of wear on the exterior surface, such as some nicks and slight losses on the thin veneer (all visible in the photos), which attest to its history without compromising its charm.
