The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien, published by HarperCollins in 2007 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the original publication. This is the 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, presented in a luxurious quarter-bound imperial blue binding with gilt detailing and Tolkien’s heraldic device for Lúthien Tinúviel. The book comes housed in its original matching custom-made slipcase. This special edition includes a number of notable features, including: * A 14-page letter written by J.R.R. Tolkien in 1951, describing his conception of the mythology of Middle-earth. * A fold-out map of Beleriand and the Lands to the North, printed in red and black. * Tolkien’s painting Halls of Manwë (Taniquetil) reproduced as a colour frontispiece. * Tolkien’s heraldic device for Lúthien Tinúviel. * A map of the Realms of the Noldor and Sindar, printed in red and black. * Heavyweight acid-free paper. * A ribbon marker. * Original matching slipcase. Condition: The book is completely sealed in its original publisher’s shrink-wrap and has never been opened.
