Jack GAGE (1946) Blue Contemplation - Oil on canvas. A magnificent work, ready to hang. A powerful contemporary painting by Jack Gage, executed in an expressive neo-pop/cubist visual language. The work shows a stylized female portrait in profile, built up from geometric planes, graphic patterns and a striking palette of intense blue, yellow, black and white. The work is inspired by the contemporary graphic language and aesthetics found in the oeuvre of Jean Luc Michon. Jack Gage translates this inspiration into a hand-painted composition with its own execution, in which figurative elements are combined with abstract and geometric forms. The closed eyes and the hand along the face give the depiction a still, almost contemplative appearance. In contrast stand the powerful color contrasts, lines, dots and architectural patterns, which give the painting a pronounced modern dynamic. The work is provided with a modern frame and, due to its strong colors and graphic character, forms a striking statement in a contemporary interior.
