Alle Auktionen / Antike Kunst / Japanse Travel Buddha (Zushi) – Amida Nyorai - Sculpture...
Amida Nyorai Buddha in Zushi with ‘Tak-e’ Display Stand – Japan Beautiful and atmospheric Amida Nyorai Buddha housed in a traditional Japanese Zushi shrine cabinet, made of wood with black lacquer and a gilded interior. According to the original seller, this is a Japanese Zushi from the late 19th century, originally part of a traditional Japanese family altar. The hand-carved Buddha is seated in a serene meditation posture on a gilded lotus throne. Due to age, part of the original gilding has worn away, creating a beautiful dark patina. Behind the Buddha is a gilded mandorla with a cloud motif, made of pressed copper and largely intact. The Zushi is presented on a separate decorative wooden display stand in ‘Tak-e’ / bamboo style. According to the original seller, the stand dates from the 21st century and was made in Japan or China. A distinctive Buddhist object, suitable for collectors, a meditation or altar space, or as a unique decorative interior piece. Condition The Buddha, Zushi and display stand are in good used condition, consistent with age. There are normal signs of use, including patina, light wear, small scratches, dust, discoloration and some loss of gilding and lacquer. During a move, a small decorative ornament from the left door became detached. It has been carefully reattached with super glue. However it has fallen again and will be sent with the Zushi. The connection of the right door has also been lightly repaired. The right door functions properly, but the small handle is somewhat loose. These repairs are reflected in the asking price and are clearly visible in the photos. The photos form part of the description. Age / Origin Zushi: according to the original seller, late 19th century, Japan. Display stand (‘Tak-e’ / bamboo style): according to the original seller, 21st century, made in Japan or China. Dimensions Zushi: approx. 15 × 8 cm Total dimensions including display stand: approx. 38 × 20 cm Please see the photos for the exact measurements. Packed weight: approx. 600 g.
