Geometric Abstraction, 80 × 80 cm Kesta (Jean-Louis Dhuit, born in 1936) Untitled composition, 2014 Acrylic on board 80 × 80 cm Large constructed geometric composition: colored bands interlaced diagonally (white, yellow, turquoise, orange, red, green) on a field of solid blacks. The weaving effect / optical parquet creates a strong rhythm, a reading that is both decorative and dynamic. Bright palette, sharp contrasts, visible brushwork — far from a cold abstraction. The work sits in the geometric and optical vein of Kesta (weaves, interlocked planes, constructed art), distinct from his figurative series or his "Pomp’Art" at the bicycle pump. The artist Jean-Louis Dhuit, known as Kesta, trained at the École Boulle and then at the Arts Décoratifs. This dual training — craft, ornament, decor — is evident in the mastery of motif and composition. Chief designer at the ORTF from 1960 (variety shows, Guy Lux, etc.), he later developed an eclectic body of work in Auvergne (Ambert / Étagnon): figurative, allegorical, geometric, sometimes gestural.
