Series ‘Domestic Corners’ 1 - “Soap” Travel to those moments of care, home, and everyday simplicity. "Soap" is an intimate look at the rites of a lifetime, capturing the fresh and familiar essence of traditional laundry. This scene places us in a retro laundry room bathed in the light of a tall window: the mythical Lagarto soap tablet on the edge of the trough, a damp cloth resting on the water, and the emblematic bottle of Mimosín in the background on bluish tiles. A work full of texture, calm, and an implicit aroma that evokes childhood and the warmth of home. —— Jesús López (València, 1982) began painting in oil at barely nine or ten years old, a hobby he kept until finishing primary schooling and which paused for many years. It was during the COVID pandemic when he resumed artistic creation through watercolor, a technique that allowed him to discover a language based on transparency, synthesis, and the active role of water in the creative process. After that reconnection with painting, he decided to return to oil, initially self-taught and later training at Aguaespejo Estudio with the Jaén-born artist Francisco Salas Quesada. His work moves between realism and impressionism, with special interest in everyday objects and scenes. His main reference is Joaquín Sorolla, for his expressive brushwork and, of course, for the light in his works. His journey in painting has only just begun.
