Alle Auktionen / Sonstige / Joan Vives Maristany (1901 - 1932) - Playa de Bretaña

Title: Brittany Beach ㅤ School: European School (20th century) ㅤ Author: Joan Vives Maristany ㅤ Style: Impressionism ㅤ Technique: Oil on canvas ㅤ Condition: Overall good state of conservation, with slight signs of aging in keeping with the period of the work. ㅤ Circle and artistic influence: The work is registered within the European landscape tradition of the 20th century, with a marked influence of Impressionism and plein air painting. The loose brushwork, the simplification of forms, and the emphasis given to atmospheric and luminous effects bring the composition closer to post-impressionist currents dedicated to coastal landscape. The treatment of clouds, water, and vegetation through color patches evidences a search for visual immediacy above meticulous representation. ㅤ Joan Vives Maristany was a painter mainly linked to the landscape tradition, with special interest in natural views and coastal scenes. In his compositions, the expressive use of color and a direct brushstroke stand out, resources used to capture the luminosity and atmosphere of the landscape. ㅤ The composition depicts a tranquil beach on the Breton coast, extended in the foreground with ocher and golden tones. On the left, coastal vegetation is rendered with fast, blended brushstrokes, while the sea occupies much of the middle plane with soft bluish-green tones. In the background, a small promontory covered with vegetation and constructions is discernible, establishing the main depth point of the scene. ㅤ The sky takes on notable prominence with large masses of white, bluish, and grayish clouds, built with visible brushstrokes and painterly matter. The clear, luminous palette, along with the contrast between the warm tones of the sand and the cool tones of the sky and sea, provides balance and depth to the whole. The artist's signature appears in the lower left corner. ㅤ The work is presented with a gilded wood frame, wide profile and geometric lines, complemented by an inner green-toned molding. The frame shows slight signs of use and small surface marks typical of the passage of time. ㅤ Observations: The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such a case, we will specify photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority. ㅤ Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge for reasons such as being outside a continental territory, oversized dimensions or weight of the item. PremiArt will not be responsible for this surcharge. ㅤ The courier that must cross the Swiss border can be much slower than usual, so if possible to expedite processing, we will provide the customs number that is holding the shipment so that the client can clear it and have it reach its destination. Experience has shown this is the most effective solution for both parties. ㅤ Due to the high volume of shipments, orders may be delayed more than three days, for which we apologize and thank you for your patience. If you have any questions about your order, please contact us via internal messaging. ㅤ Dimensions: 23 × 29 cm Dimensions with frame: 28 × 34 cm
