Jordi Juan Pujol - Mickey Mouse Inspired by Astérix...

• Hand Signed by the Artist • Unique Original Artwork • Certificate of Authenticity Included • Ready to Frame PAF! Every reader of Astérix knows that sound: it is the moment when a Roman legionary is knocked so hard that he flies straight out of his sandals. In this joyful original, Spanish artist Jordi Juan Pujol pays tribute to the legendary Gaulish hero created by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo in 1959, with Mickey Mouse taking his place. Wearing the famous winged helmet, the sword at his belt and the precious gourd of magic potion, Mickey has just delivered the punch, eyes closed and smiling with satisfaction, while the Roman's empty sandals are left behind on the grass, surrounded by stars. Painted in watercolour and ink with clean, confident linework, bright colours and a big hand-lettered sound effect, the piece captures the humour, rhythm and energy of the best Franco-Belgian comics, combined with the timeless charm of Disney. A perfect piece for collectors of Disney art, European comic art and, of course, Astérix fans. ▸ Watercolour and ink on paper ▸ Format: 42 x 30 cm (unframed) Jordi Juan Pujol is a Spanish illustrator known for bringing classic animated characters into unexpected settings drawn from comics, cinema, art and popular culture.
