Junghans - Bull's Eye - No reserve price - Men - 1950-1959

Junghans Bull’s Eye – Vintage German Mechanical Watch – 17 Jewels – Two-Tone Dial – Gold Plated Case – 1950-1960 A beautiful and highly characteristic vintage Junghans Bull’s Eye from the 1950s, distinguished by its striking two-tone dial with a dramatic black central section surrounded by a contrasting champagne outer ring. The concentric dial design creates the distinctive “Bull’s Eye” aesthetic, one of the most recognizable decorative styles found on mid-century watches. Combined with the slender gold-tone hands, minimalist applied hour markers and elegant round case, it gives the watch a refined and unmistakably 1950s appearance. The dial is signed “JUNGHANS – 17 JEWELS”, reflecting the mechanical construction and classic German watchmaking character of the period. Technical Details Brand: Junghans Style: Bull’s Eye / Two-Tone Dial Type: Vintage mechanical wristwatch Movement: Mechanical, manual winding Jewels: 17 jewels Case material: Gold plated Case diameter: Approx. 33.5 mm, excluding crown Glass: Acrylic crystal Dial: Two-tone black and champagne Bull’s Eye dial Hour markers: Applied baton indexes Hands: Gold-tone Functions: Hours, minutes, central seconds Case back: Stainless steel Case back markings: Stainless Steel Back / Shock & Waterproof Strap: Generic black leather strap Strap length: Approx. 21–22 cm Water resistance: Not tested for water resistance Box: Generic box included Condition: Grade B Condition Report This Junghans Bull’s Eye is in Grade B condition, showing signs of age and use consistent with a vintage watch from the 1950s. The gold-plated case presents scratches, surface marks and visible wear to the plating, particularly around the case edges and lugs. These signs are consistent with the age and authentic vintage character of the watch. The two-tone dial remains visually striking. The black central section contrasts beautifully with the champagne outer chapter, while both areas display natural ageing, spotting and patina visible under close inspection. The applied indexes and gold-tone hands also show age-related wear. The acrylic crystal shows signs of normal use. The stainless steel case back presents scratches and surface marks from wear and previous opening. The watch is fitted with a generic black leather strap measuring approximately 21–22 cm. Although the case back carries the historical inscription “Shock & Waterproof”, water resistance has not been tested and therefore cannot be guaranteed. Please study all photos carefully, as they are part of the description and show the actual condition of the item. Story & Heritage Founded in 1861 in Schramberg, Germany, Junghans became one of the most important names in German watch and clock manufacturing. During the mid-20th century, the company produced a wide variety of mechanical wristwatches that combined reliable engineering with the clean, balanced design associated with post-war European watchmaking. This example is particularly appealing because of its Bull’s Eye dial configuration. The term describes a concentric two-tone dial in which a contrasting central field creates a target-like visual effect. This style appeared on watches from several respected manufacturers during the first half and middle of the 20th century and is especially appreciated today for its strong Art Deco and mid-century character. Here, the deep black centre and aged champagne outer ring create a particularly attractive contrast, complemented by the gold-tone case and hands. With its 17-jewel mechanical movement, distinctive Bull’s Eye dial and classic 1950s proportions, this Junghans is a charismatic vintage piece for collectors who appreciate unusual dial designs and traditional German mechanical watchmaking.
