Kenedy, Texas. $10 1902 Plain Back. Fr. 635. First NB. Charter #12182. PCGS Banknote Very Fine 25. Issued during the 1920s based on the bank/bank serial number format. This evenly circulated $10 Plain Back is a particularly pleasing representative of the First National Bank of Kenedy (Charter# 12182) whose circulation would ultimately be assumed by the Nichols National Bank (Charter# 12187) in 1932 which records 26 non-institutional notes in the National Bank Note Census. By contrast, the First National Bank is slightly rarer in relative terms boasting a recorded population that numbers approximately 19 non-institutional pieces. Now among those 19 notes, this example is a veritable paragon among the pieces recorded for the Series of 1902 whose significance is magnified by bold signatures attributable to Cashier W.E. Ruckman and President E.P. Ruhmann which collectively represent something often lost upon comparable National Bank Notes from Texas. Estimate: $1,000 - $1,500. Provenance: From the Jack Copeland Currency Collection, Part IV. Click here for certification details from PCGS Banknote.
