A Konyak Naga heavy cast bronze ritual warrior's neck torque Nagaland, India - First half 20th Century An open-collar rigid torque featuring 15 highly stylized, cast trophy heads projecting from the outer edge. In Naga culture, such torques were prestigious insignia of status and bravery, traditionally worn by successful warriors. The small brass heads serve as symbolic representations of human trophy heads, closely tied to the tribe's historic headhunting practices and ancestral belief systems. 15 is an exceptional high 'head count'. The piece has been crafted using the traditional lost-wax casting technique, resulting in an individual, expressive character for each face. It has an authentic dark patina with visible signs of ritual use, handling, and age. Dimensions: 15 cm x 19 cm Heads Size: Approx. 2 cm each Weight: 245 grams Good condition. Retains a deep, untouched oxidized patina with minor surface wear consistent with age and use. No structural damage or modern repairs. For a good impression, please watch all photos carefully. Insured shipping. Can also be collected in Ghent, Belgium.
