Kuba Schirwan - Carpet - 175 cm - 115 cm - Antique Caucasus Kuba Rug

Description: Charming antique Caucasian rug, probably from the Kuba region, with affinities to the Seichur group. The elongated blue-green field is decorated with numerous stylised floral and geometric motifs in ivory, red, terracotta, blue and brown. The two broad lateral borders feature striking repeated geometric-floral designs, creating a particularly distinctive composition. The rug has a beautiful palette of naturally softened colours and an authentic tribal character. The design shows affinities with published Kuba/Seichur examples, including those illustrated by Ian Bennett. Dimensions: approximately 120 × 214 cm Age: end 19th century - early 20th century Origin: Caucasus, probably Kuba region Condition: antique condition, with extensive wear consistent with age and use
