LARGE SUMERIAN MARBLE IDOL OF RECUMBENT BULL

Ca. 3000 BC. A large marble idol depicting a recumbent bull with a broad, compact body, rounded back and legs folded beneath the torso. The head is turned to the left, with a tapering muzzle and large circular eyes inlaid with dark stone. Size: 110mm x 80mm; Weight: 250g Provenance: From a private British collection; ex I.H. collection, assembled since the 1970s.
