A collection of Indian Raj ephemera relating to a visit in 1931, the largest photograph 16.5 x 21cm Comprising a group of printed invitations, photographs, menus, a Christmas card, and a handwritten letter, all relating to a visit to India in 1931 by the vendor’s mother’s friend. Included are invitations for the investiture and wedding of H.H. Krishnakumarsinhji Maharaja Saheb of Bhavnagar at Panwadi on 18th April 1931, together with two banquet menus for the occasion, a Christmas card from Maharana Shri Madarsinghji of Sayla, and a small group of photographs taken in India. Also included is a handwritten letter describing the writer’s experiences in India, with references to contemporary political affairs, including Gandhi and discussion of his possible release from prison.
