Lot exceptionnel de revues et tirés à part originaux...

A rare and historically coherent ensemble of 7 original technical documents in the form of offprints, published between 1980 and 1988. These working papers come directly from the professional archives of a high-level aerospace engineer. At this pivotal time, the space industry was tipping from a purely government-driven era toward privatized launches and the rise of mobile telecommunications (Ku band, Ka band, constellations). This lot constitutes a true time capsule of the transatlantic technological elite at the end of the Cold War, bringing together the major American manufacturers and the European Space Agency (ESA). NASA / Watkins-Johnson Company (Palo Alto, California) Topic: Production of the ACTS Downlink Traveling-Wave Tube (TWT). Importance: Crucial factory/technical document on the traveling-wave tube intended for NASA's experimental ACTS satellite (Ka band). AIAA Conference (1988) – European Space Agency (ESA) Authors: P. Bartholomé, A. Jongejans, C. Loisy, R. Rogard. Topic: Land Mobile Satellite Services in Europe: Results of Market Studies and Initial System Demonstrations. Importance: The very first European market studies for connecting trucks, ships, and trains by satellite (PRODAT program). AIAA Conference (1988) – European Space Agency (ESA) Authors: C. Rosetti, R. Rogard. Topic: A New Approach for an Aerobile System. Importance: Pioneer report on the ancestor of civil aviation satellite communications over oceans. AIAA Conference (1988) – General Dynamics Space Systems Division Authors: Lee R. Scherer (Former Director of NASA's Kennedy Space Center) & R. C. White. Topic: Commercial Atlas / Centaur Update (AIAA-88-0854 Communication). Importance: A major historical document validating the privatization of American satellite launches after the Challenger shuttle tragedy in 1986. AIAA Conference (1988) – Princeton / RCA Astro-Electronics Author: Dr. John F. Clark (Former legendary Director of NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center). Topic: Future Communication Satellite Systems and Their Technology. Importance: A rare forward-looking vision written by one of the founding fathers of American scientific satellites. AIAA Conference (1980) – Scientific-Atlanta Authors: James H. Black Jr., Melvin K. Coker Jr. Topic: High Performance Ku-Band Antennas for SBS Earth Stations (AIAA 80-0533-CP). Importance: Early engineering document (1980) on deploying ground antennas for the pioneering SBS corporate data network (IBM/Comsat). TRW Inc. (Redondo Beach, California) – Defense and Space Systems Group Author: D. McLaughlin. Topic: Organizing Orbital Operations to Get Your Money's Worth. Importance: TRW's techno-economic analysis (designer of Apollo and Pioneer modules) on optimizing costs in orbit. Technical details & State
